Klaus Welzel joined Plexus Ventures in 2005 following a distinguished career. He was with Eli Lilly for 21 years and spent almost 10 years at Schwarz Pharma.

Klaus Welzel worked for Lilly in the US, UK and Germany in a variety of executive positions with particular focus on Marketing, Sales, Corporate Affairs and Business Development. His positions at Lilly were Director of Marketing Germany, Director Corporate Affairs European Operations and Director Business Development Europeans Operations. He was a member of Lilly’s European Management Board for nine years. Klaus Welzel’s experience in a broad range of pharmaceutical industry functions, such as Marketing, Sales, Corporate Affairs, Business development as well as Managed Care and Alliance Management allows him to offer advice and recommendations in a variety of commercially significant transactions within the pharmaceutical industry.

Dr. Welzel received a degree in Business Management from the University of Frankfurt/Main and a Ph.D. from the University of Mannheim. He lectured at Universities of Frankfurt and Mannheim for over 5 years prior to joining the pharmaceutical industry.
